Themed Drinks: White Walker Russian

If you’ll recall, last week I wrote of a Taco Party we happily gorged ourselves on, with recipes courtesy of Bon Appetit. What I didn’t mention was what that party was for…since then you would know how behind I am in my posting.

Well, these next few posts won’t make sense without me telling you…so…ok. Ok. It was the Game of Thrones Season Finale. Yes, that  long ago. But we did make some kick-ass drinks, with the help of a visiting friend, and I couldn’t resist sharing them.

Drink #1: White Walker Russian

White Walker Russian

White Walkers, for those of you not in the Game of Thrones know, are basically winter monster-people who kill pretty much everything (I think…the Boy should really be writing this part. Sometimes that show confuses me.). They were defeated once before by the people of the North, but [SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT] they may or may not be back. They look basically like giant icicle men with blue blue eyes.

So…here you have a White Walker Russian. Which is basically a White Russian with a fun new name, THOUGH our friend does occasionally shake his with chocolate chips, which is yummy and can be read as the dark evil inside the White Walkers, or something (I like my drinks to be fully explicable).

Here’s your basic recipe:

Adapted from Esquire

This is also good poured over vanilla ice cream. More on what else we poured over vanilla ice cream coming soon. Oh, and if you use the chocolate chips, then eat them. Or pour them over your ice cream. Just don’t waste them, ok?

1 1/2 ounces vodka
3/4 ounce Kahlua
3/4 ounce heavy cream
Chocolate chips (optional)

Shake well with cracked ice, then strain into a glass.

More themed drinks to come!
