In all my time as a Los Angelina, I had never once been to the fabled Venice Canals. So one Sunday afternoon when we wanted to get out of the house, I suggested we head down to Venice and check them out. As it turns out, it was the perfect thing to do on a lazy, gorgeous L.A. Sunday.
Entrances to the canals are marked, conveniently, by signs – and let me tell you, based on the surrounding neighborhood, you’d never know what lies within…
(WARNING: extreme excess of photos about to spill into your lap.)
And there was live music, because why wouldn’t there be when you’re wandering along canals in the middle of a big giant city like Los Angeles?
Oh, and wildlife.
The home decor varied. Widely.
And everywhere was a story to be found. Or imagined. Who lost a hat?
And the day ended like this. I mean, c’mon.
We saw parents with kids, people walking dogs, joggers…whoever you are, the Venice Canals are a beautiful respite in an often crazy city. Even if the parking can be tough.
But hey, it’s December. Eat your heart out, East Coast.
